Diamond Open Access Policy

All journals published by Ptolemy Scientific Research Press (PSR Press) follow the Diamond Open Access publishing model. Under this model, published articles are made freely available to readers without subscription barriers, and authors are not required to pay article processing charges for standard publication.

The purpose of the Diamond Open Access model is to support the free and equitable dissemination of scholarly knowledge. It allows researchers, students, educators, institutions, professionals, and the wider public to read, download, share, and use published research without financial restriction. PSR Press believes that scientific knowledge should be accessible to all readers and that authors should be able to publish their work without publication charges being a barrier.

Author Copyright

Authors retain copyright of their work after publication in journals of PSR Press. Copyright is not transferred from the authors to the publisher. By submitting and publishing an article in a PSR Press journal, the authors grant the journal the right of first publication, while continuing to hold copyright ownership of the article.

This means that the journal is authorized to publish, host, distribute, archive, preserve, index, and make the article available as part of the scholarly record. At the same time, the authors remain the copyright holders and may reuse their work in accordance with the applicable Creative Commons license and proper citation requirements.

Creative Commons License

Articles published by PSR Press are licensed under a Creative Commons license. Unless otherwise stated on the article page or in the article PDF, articles are distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution License 4.0 (CC BY 4.0).

This license allows the article to be used, copied, distributed, reproduced, displayed, shared, adapted, translated, text-mined, data-mined, and built upon in any medium or format, provided that the original work is properly cited and appropriate credit is given to the author or authors.

Users of published articles must:

  • cite the original article correctly;
  • give proper credit to the author or authors;
  • acknowledge the journal and PSR Press as the original place of publication;
  • provide a link to the license where possible;
  • indicate whether changes were made, where applicable;
  • follow the terms of the Creative Commons license.

Rights of Readers and Users

Under the Diamond Open Access policy of PSR Press, readers and users may access published articles without payment. No subscription, registration fee, or access charge is required to read the published content.

Readers may use published articles for lawful academic, educational, research, professional, and scholarly purposes. This includes reading, downloading, printing, sharing, citing, linking, storing, translating, and reusing the article, provided that proper citation and attribution are given.

The published work may be used in teaching, research discussions, institutional repositories, course materials, academic presentations, literature reviews, databases, and scholarly communication, as long as the original source and authors are properly acknowledged.

Author Reuse and Repository Deposit

Authors may reuse their published articles in their own academic and professional work. They may share, distribute, and deposit the published version of their article in:

  • institutional repositories;
  • subject repositories;
  • personal academic websites;
  • university profile pages;
  • research networks;
  • scholarly databases;
  • course materials;
  • conference presentations;
  • future books, chapters, or review works, where properly cited.

When reusing or depositing the published article, authors should cite the final published version and provide a link to the article on the journal website where possible.

Third-Party Copyrighted Material

Articles published by PSR Press may contain third-party material that is protected by copyright. Such material may include figures, tables, photographs, maps, diagrams, illustrations, datasets, long quotations, reproduced extracts, or other material owned by another person, publisher, institution, or organization.

Third-party material included in an article may not automatically be covered by the article’s Creative Commons license unless this is clearly stated in the credit line, caption, acknowledgment, or permission notice. Users who wish to reuse third-party material from a published article should carefully check the relevant caption, source note, and copyright statement.

If the third-party material is not clearly included under the article’s Creative Commons license, users must obtain permission from the original copyright holder before reusing, reproducing, adapting, distributing, or republishing that material.

Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to use any third-party copyrighted material before submission and publication. Proper acknowledgment must be given to the original source and rights holder.

Proper Citation and Attribution

Any use, reuse, distribution, reproduction, or adaptation of an article published by PSR Press must include proper citation. Correct citation protects author recognition, supports scholarly integrity, and allows readers to locate the original published work.

A proper citation should normally include:

  • author name or names;
  • article title;
  • journal title;
  • year of publication;
  • volume and issue, where applicable;
  • page range or article number, where applicable;
  • DOI or article URL, where available;
  • name of the publisher, where appropriate.

Users must not present the work of PSR Press authors as their own. They must not remove author names, citation details, copyright notices, license information, or other publication metadata from the article.

Publisher Rights and Preservation

By granting PSR Press the right of first publication, authors allow the journal to publish and maintain the article as part of the permanent scholarly record. PSR Press may host the article on its website, include it in journal archives, submit metadata to indexing services, preserve the article digitally, and promote the article for academic visibility.

This right of first publication does not restrict the authors from using their work after publication, provided that the published version is properly cited and the Creative Commons license terms are followed.

No Subscription or Standard Publication Charges

The Diamond Open Access model followed by PSR Press means that readers do not pay to access published articles and authors do not pay article processing charges for standard publication. This policy is intended to support inclusive scholarly communication and reduce financial barriers for both authors and readers.

Editorial decisions are based on academic merit, journal scope, originality, clarity, ethical compliance, peer-review assessment, and scholarly contribution. Publication decisions are not based on payment.

Policy Statement

PSR Press is committed to publishing scholarly work under the Diamond Open Access model while allowing authors to retain copyright of their work. Authors grant the journal the right of first publication, and the published work is made available under a Creative Commons license. This policy allows articles to be used, distributed, and reproduced in any medium, provided that the original work is correctly cited and proper credit is given to the author or authors.

Through this policy, PSR Press supports free access to knowledge, responsible reuse of scholarly content, proper author attribution, and long-term preservation of the academic record.
